ROWLAND FADE

English born, Rowland has painted all his life. After dropping out of Art College, 1967 saw his first exhibition at the Inca Gallery, Reading.  Since then he has participated in countless exhibitions and competitions over Europe, which included  The XVIII Certamen Internacional de Pintura, Pollenca, Mallorca, España where he was awarded Gold Medal and First Prize.

Working on canvas stretched over board, he has developed his own distinctive handling of mixed media materials to create highy elaborate works exploring the surrealistic world of dream and imagination. You can see the cultural influences of Moorish Spain mingled with European imagery.

Having left England way back, he chose Andalucia to make his home and lives high up in the fishermans quarter of a coastal Mediterranean town in Spain.
